Cake Auction provides funds for Gym Equipment
Turning calories into calorie burners!
The Maxville Public School cake auction was held Friday Feb. 10, in the school auditorium. Students from junior kindergarten to grade 8, teachers, and families bid on cakes to raise $1,140.48. Funds raised from this event will be used to purchase volleyball nets and gym equipment.
The students coordinate the event with guest auctioneer Theresa Taylor. High tech was also involved as the students had the cakes projected on a large screen so all bidders could delight on the cake up for bids.
The theme of event is St. Valentines Day. The students bid on the cakes as a class with the top bidders bringing the cakes back to their class to share. There are prizes of course for the submissions; categories include originality in decorating for the theme. Top cake sold for $55.00, double chocolate cake with maraschino cherry chocolate accents.
The students presented Ms. Taylor with a gift thanking her for participating in this event and teaching the students all facets of the auction method of marketing.
