Charity Auction to Benefit Rachel's Kids
It's not often you can combine entertainment, good food, shopping and philanthropy all in one afternoon, but if you are interested in trying, drop by 1651 Blakely Drive this Sunday, June 3rd at 11:00am.
Dr. Rachel Navaneelan will be holding a charity auction to benefit Rachel's Kids, a charity that is helping children here in Cornwall and around the world.
"This is our third year holding an auction, and each year we get bigger and better", said Dr. Rachel Navaneelan. "In 2006, we were able to raise over $40,000 and over 95% of those funds went directly to helping kids."
Rachel's Kids is a charitable organization supported through community contributions, corporate donations and the time of volunteers, which seeks to aid impoverished, neglected and abused children. Rachel's Kids also integrates with other aid organizations in order to improve the lives of children in need both locally and globally. This year, in addition to several tantalizing items up for bid, patrons will be treated to food from Mangi's Ristorante, drinks and live entertainment. The event is sponsored by several local companies and organizations. The real fundraising comes from the auction itself, which will be run by Ontario Champion auctioneer, Theresa Taylor.
"We have quite a diverse collection of items up for bid, ranging from Louis Vuitton and Gucci Handbags to a new Taylor Made R5 driver", said Theresa Taylor. "We have exotic jewellery, art, and signed memorabilia, but perhaps the most unique item is a Bombardier Flight Simulator ride. People can preview the items online at www.TheresaTaylor.com. Absentee bids are welcome."
To help jumpstart the fundraising, patrons are being asked to buy tickets this year. They can be picked up at the event, or at Dr. Navaneelan's office prior to the event.
