"Taking Care of Business" Awards were presented by the Women Entrepreneurs of Cornwall and Area to a number of people. The recipients, from left, are Theresa Taylor or Theresa E. Taylor & Associates (best home based business), Sandy McAlear & Heather Garfield of Tranquillity Spa (most promising new business), Denise Leger of Lunch Box Dinner and House of Savings (top retailer of the year), Heather Robertson of Heather Robertson & Associates (outstanding business professional), Marg Hogan of Lincien College of Business & Technology (small business of the year) and Louise Gendron of Salon Phase II (entrepreneur of the year).
Membership of Women Entrepreneurs of Cornwall and Area is growing at a steady pace.
Since its inception almost three years ago, the organization's membership had risen to 80 from 15.
And Marg Hogan, chair of Women Entrepreneurs, said Monday the membership continues to grow.
"We have had hundreds of women attend our monthly meetings and fundraisers," she said. "We are very proud of this accomplishment and it is because of concerned and interested citizens we have been this successful."
Hogan said so much effort and sacrifice goes into making business and careers successful.
She said Women Entrepreneurs recognize work entrepreneurs put into their business.
Hogan said six specific awards were presented to women for outstanding efforts and accomplishments in business.
She said their first ever awards night was a "huge" success.
