Theresa at the Children's Treatment Center Charity Auction Going once, going twice, it was an event that was all for the kids.

The Children's Treatment Center, held its second annual Charity Auction, sponsored by Roxborough Bus Lines, at the Best Western Parkway Inn.

Auctioneer, Theresa E. Taylor of South Lancaster, auctioned off a total of 163 items during the event.

Bob Smith, program supervisor with the Children's Treatment Center, said the event is one where the community comes together to help the center.

"The support we have received this year is tremendous, and it helps children in our community," Smith said.

The center's purpose in the community is to counsel children who have been physically and sexually abused.

Smith said the center provides needed service for children in the three United Counties, Cornwall and Akwesasne.

Gerald Samson, with his wife Claudette, attended the auction.

Bidding on a slow cooker for $50, Gerald said any financial help to help the center is good investment.

"To help local children, this is the number-one reason why we are here," he said.

Coming from Penticton, B.C, Margaret Redpath, who was visiting some friends, attended the auction.

Redpath successfully bid $70 to acquire a hockey stick autographed by Montreal Canadiens forward Chad Kilger.

"My grandson will love this, and I am happy I attended this auction," she said.

By late Friday evening, the auction had raised $16,500. But that figure was expected to climb as donations continued to trickle in.
